Recognizing Innovation in Tourism
Citrus Codes received the Best Startup Idea Award at the World Tourism Day celebration in Podgorica, Montenegro, where four startup teams presented innovative solutions aimed at shaping the future of tourism.
Organized under the theme "Tourism of the Future – Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence as Drivers of Change in Tourism," the event brought together representatives of the tourism industry, public institutions, and the innovation community.
Our award-winning concept, TourismOS, introduces a vision for a unified digital tourism ecosystem that connects visitors, local communities, tourism businesses, and public institutions through a single platform.
TourismOS: Connecting Montenegro's Tourism Ecosystem
Today, one of the biggest challenges in tourism isn't the lack of information. It's that information is often scattered across different websites, applications, brochures, and institutional systems.
Visitors struggle to find reliable information, local tourism providers face administrative complexity and limited visibility, while public institutions work with fragmented data that can make informed decision-making more difficult.
TourismOS was designed as a response to these challenges.
Rather than creating another tourism portal, the concept proposes a connected digital infrastructure that brings together information, services, and processes across Montenegro's tourism ecosystem.
For visitors, TourismOS envisions a single place to discover accommodation, attractions, events, routes, and authentic local experiences, supported by reliable and location-based information.
- For local tourism providers, it proposes simplified digital registration, easier verification, and greater visibility among potential visitors.
- For public institutions, the platform aims to enable more efficient administrative processes, improved transparency, and data-driven decision-making.
A Vision for Smarter, More Connected Tourism
TourismOS reflects our belief that digital transformation should go beyond introducing new applications. Its purpose should be to connect existing processes, simplify access to information, and create measurable value for the people and organizations that use technology.
By bringing together visitors, local businesses, communities, and institutions, TourismOS proposes a more integrated approach to tourism management and destination development.
Receiving the Best Startup Idea Award represents an important recognition of this vision and encourages us to continue exploring how technology can contribute to a more connected and efficient tourism industry.
At Citrus Codes, we remain committed to developing innovative digital solutions that address real challenges and support the long-term development of Montenegro.
