Gender Equality Profile of Montenegro

Overview

Gender equality touches every part of society, from education and employment to political participation and access to justice. Understanding the bigger picture requires both reliable data and the context behind it.
UNDP Montenegro entrusted us with the UX/UI design and development of a platform that brings these perspectives together. Developed with financial support from the European Union through the “United in Gender Equality” project, it combines statistics, policy insights, publications, and the history of Montenegro’s women’s movement.

Challenge

The challenge was to turn a large and varied body of information into a clear digital experience. Visitors needed to navigate detailed research, explore statistics, discover initiatives, and understand historical developments without losing their way.
The platform also needed to serve different audiences, work in Montenegrin and English, and provide a consistent experience across desktop and mobile devices.

Solution

We designed and developed a platform organised around nine thematic focus areas, giving visitors clear paths into the content.
Charts present gender gaps visually, while a searchable resource library lets users filter publications by topic, type, and year. Site search connects resources, initiatives, and thematic pages, helping visitors find relevant information across the platform.
An interactive timeline brings the history of Montenegro’s women’s movement into the experience, highlighting key milestones and the women behind them. Dedicated sections cover international frameworks, initiatives, and opportunities.
Throughout the interface, clear typography, colour, and reusable components help organise complex content and guide visitors through each section.

Impact

The platform provides a central place to explore gender equality in Montenegro, connecting figures with the research, policies, and historical developments that give them meaning.
With content available in Montenegrin and English, it serves local and international audiences and provides a shared resource for research, advocacy, and public discussion.
